Our end customer is seeing failures of a intersil 82c87 Octal inverting
transceiver which is behaving like a non inverting transceiver (82c86).
We have opened up the component and the die is marked 82C86. The part
may have been rebadged or is counterfeit. Has anyone else encountered
this or can recommend a way of detecting counterfeit components?

Meybe you should be asking Intersil if it's their package. Screwups
happen.

It was bought through a non franchised distributor and Intersil are not
interested in discussing it. I'm looking to see if this has been seen
by anyne else in the market place.
We have had issues with counterfeit Maxim and Siliconix. Both of them
were quite helpful so I don't quite understand Intersil position in not
even acknowledging the query.
